Providing anonymous alternatives to infant adandoment through education, prevention and community involvement.

Who we are

A Safe Haven for Newborns is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating infant abandonment, through education, prevention and community involvement. Through public awareness efforts and the availability of our statewide multilingual 24/7 helpline; we are saving lives.

The Safe Haven law allows mothers, fathers or whoever is in possession of an unharmed newborn, approximately thirty (30) days old or less, to leave them with a staff member of a Safe Haven facility with no questions asked, totally anonymous, free from fear of prosecution.  In Florida Safe Haven facilities are any hospital, staffed fire rescue station, or staffed emergency medical service station.  The hospital will contact a participating private adoption agency who will then arrange placement of the newborn with a waiting family.

A Safe Haven for Newborns is dedicated to eliminating the ultimate in infant abuse, abandonment, through education, prevention, direct assistance and grass roots community involvement.
