Dear Safe Haven family and friends,

I had a wonderful time last night visiting with Baby Milagros, her mother Donna and her other adopted siblings. Miami Children’s Hospital sponsors an all week event for mentally and Physically challenged children. I estimate it was attended by over 100 people including from other countries.  I spent the evening with them at A.D. Barnes park.

Milagros will be 13 years old in a few days. A beautiful little girl inside and out, very sweet and VERY intelligent. She was born without a chin, arms and only one leg but has the personality of a champion. I have known her since she was 2 days old . Her bio. mother had called our helpline. She dearly LOVES her mother. I asked her what she wanted to be when she grows up and her reply was “a mother”. Very moving moment for me…..

They live in another state and when they get home Donna will put together a video for us to use that will be quite compelling. The Casady family is a wonderful example of the  love and care they provide to God’s special children.

Milagros is truly a blessing to all who know her . I surely felt that last night. If there wasn’t A Safe Haven for Newborns, the chances were extremely slim for her to have a chance for a future and then to touch so many lives.

We must all count our blessings,

Nick E. Silverio
